Message from Easter Sunday

Happy Easter!

You may have come to Woodland Beach Church this morning only to have found it empty.  This may have been concerning, causing disappointment and even some confusion.  We had planned to have our first Easter Service this year but…

Not unlike those who came to the tomb the first Easter only to find it empty.  It caused deep concern, some thinking the body of Jesus had been stolen, just when women had come prepared to anoint his body.

The good news in both these situations is this.  First, Jesus was not there because just as it had been written, He had been raised from death.  And because of that there is great hope.

John 20 The Resurrection

1.Early on Sunday morning,[a] while it was still dark, Mary Magdalene came to the tomb and found that the stone had been rolled away from the entrance. She ran and found Simon Peter and the other disciple, the one whom Jesus loved. She said, “They have taken the Lord’s body out of the tomb, and we don’t know where they have put him!” Peter and the other disciple started out for the tomb. They were both running, but the other disciple outran Peter and reached the tomb first. He stooped and looked in and saw the linen wrappings lying there, but he didn’t go in. Then Simon Peter arrived and went inside. He also noticed the linen wrappings lying there, while the cloth that had covered Jesus’ head was folded up and lying apart from the other wrappings. Then the disciple who had reached the tomb first also went in, and he saw and believed— for until then they still hadn’t understood the Scriptures that said Jesus must rise from the dead.

The second is this, that although the situation in the world with Covid has taken all of us by surprise it has not taken God by surprise.  He is in control, and we will meet at the Church again!

May we encourage you to continue to read the scriptures and take in the good news of the Gospel.  To know that God loves you, knows your needs, knows your fears, knows your heart and is only a prayer away.

John 20 concludes:

30 The disciples saw Jesus do many other miraculous signs in addition to the ones recorded in this book. 31 But these are written so that you may continue to believe[d] that Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of God, and that by believing in him you will have life by the power of his name.

It has been said that while Jesus was on the cross that we were on His mind and that when He rose from the dead all those who believe in Him will not perish either but have eternal life John 3:16.

Oh what a Saviour Oh what a Mighty God we love and serve.

He is risen indeed!
