Reflection for May 28, 2023

A  lady had a sick little girl at home, and rushed to the drug store for some medication. When she got back to her car she realized with shock that she had locked her keys in the car. She looked around and found a rusty old coat hangar. She said to herself, “I don’t know how to use this to unlock my car!” She bowed her head and asked the Lord to send her some help.
Within minutes a beat-up old motorcycle pulled up, driven by a bearded man who was wearing an old biker skull rag. He got off his bike, and she went over to him and asked if he could help her. She said, “My daughter is sick, and I’ve locked my keys in the car. I have to get home! Please, can you use this hanger to unlock my car?”
He said, “Sure.” He walked over to her car and in less than a minute he had the car door open. She hugged him, and through tears softly said, “Thank you Lord for sending me such a very nice man”.
The man heard her quiet prayer and said, “Lady, I am not a nice man. I just got out of prison yesterday. I was in for car theft”.
The woman hugged the man again, and sobbing said, “Oh, thank You Lord for sending me a professional!”
Isn’t God wonderful?! You just never know how God is going to answer your prayers, do you? Pray and expect the unexpected.
And let’s remember – maybe the ex-con needed acceptance and encouragement too, having just gotten out of prison and not knowing how things would go for him. The woman’s prayers opened a door that he walked through, probably hoping for a positive outcome.    Two needs were met by this one incident.
Our God is an awesome God!
