Easter 2026 He Is Risen The scripture references for the Easter message are taken from 1Corinthians and John 20:3-18. It is interesting to note that our English word ‘Easter’ which we celebrate in a religious context doesn’t have Latin or Greek roots. Its etymology is vague but it is generally accepted to be from Old English relating to ‘east’ where the sun rises and dawn awakens our world and initiates the beginnings of new life. As hints of spring tantalize us with wisps of periodic warmer temperatures and winter won’t easily give up its hold we are moving ahead with plans for the opening of the 2026 Woodland Beach Community Church season on Sunday May 17. This is a very special year for our church both historically and spiritually as we will be celebrating the 100th anniversary of its founding in 1926. The focus of the celebration will be on the weekend of July 4th
