To guide your Easter reflection here is an outline of the message I delivered based on the gospel of Mathew, 28: 1-7
- The Time of the Resurrection
- After the Sabbath, after Saturday
- At dawn (sunrise) around 6:00 am
- On the first day of the week, Sunday
- The time of the year: Jewish Passover, the Feast of Unleavened Bread (It could be late March to the end of April.
- The events surrounding the Resurrection
- A violent Earthquake had shaken the city of Jerusalem
- There had been a complete solar eclipse on Good Friday, 3 days before
- Some witnesses had seen bodies come out from the tombs on the Mount of Olives
- An angel had come down from heaven and rolled away the giant stone from in front of Jesus’ tomb and sat upon it
- The Message of the Resurrection
- The angel delivered the message to the two Marys: Mary Magdalene and the other Mary
- “Do not be afraid. You are looking for Jesus.”
- “He is not here. He has risen!”
- “Go tell his disciples, ‘He has risen.’”
- Wishing each of you in our Woodland Beach Community Church community a very Holy and Blessed Easter.
