The Good Shepherd

(This is a precis of John’s message from Sunday June 28) John 10   Let’s focus on this metaphor today, first on God’s sheep and then on Jesus the Good Shepherd. The sheep are referenced in a sheepfold, they gather and stay together. Sheep hear the shepherd’s voice; they listen and follow it. Sheep discern other voices and will not follow the direction of a stranger. Sheep know the shepherd and maintain a strong relationship with their shepherd. So too we should gather regularly

  (A brief summary of Malcolm’s message) Jesus’ Submission to the Father’s will: (John 1:10-12) Our relationship with our earthly father may not be a healthy one; if so we need to let God transform our hearts. Jesus’ Obedience to His Father’s Word: (John 8:28-29, John 11:41-42) Jesus said yes to an impossible journey. He prayed, he listened for his father’s voice.  We too have to submit to what God wants us to do, with prayer, daily communication with God. God can do the impossible;

A summary of the message from Sunday May 24

Faith, Hope, and Love 1 Thessalonians 1:2-3 The apostle Paul often brings up these 3 virtues when addressing the churches that he so diligently served; but his intention was never to leave them as vague ideas, but rather to be recognized as real actions in the lives of those who had chosen to follow Jesus. Today is no different, our faith, our hope, and our love are meant to be seen by the world around us as significant changes in our lives

Think of These Things

Philippians 4:4-9 I think that many of you are aware that the book of Philippians is one of my favourite Bible books. As a missionary on home assignment I would go to various churches to report on the work and to thank them for their participation in finances and prayer. Both are important. Without financial backing we could not serve in the overseas. Without prayer there was no purpose in going. At one point when I realized that the letter to
