Acts 4
Peter and John brought the name of Jesus Christ in the power of the
Holy Spirit to raise up a man who had been lame his entire life.
The reaction of the crowd brought the concern of the temple officials because they didn’t want their authority undermined.
Peter and John, who had been jailed the night before, were given opportunity to defend themselves in the highest court in the land.
The boldness of the two men was noted. The authorities recognized they had been with Jesus.
What the authorities didn’t know or understand – Peter and John had been leaning on Jesus.
They knew that meant placing their trust and their burdens in Jesus’ hands. It meant getting to the place where they realized they were not meant to put their faith in anything or anyone but Jesus.
It took them years to fully understand what that meant.
Is that possible for us? Yes!
- Trust in Jesus’ strength.
- See Jesus as our refuge.
- Realize that Jesus is the ultimate emotional support for us.
Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not to your own understanding.
In all your ways acknowledge him and he will direct your path. (Proverbs 3: 5-6)
May the God of all hope fill you with all peace and joy in believing, that you may abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit. (Romans 15:13)
